What is a Learning Disability Partnership Board? |
The government wrote a paper called"Valuing People, a New Strategy For The 21st Century (2001)". That paper told all local authorities to set up learning disability partnership boards. The Partnership Board is a champion for people with learning disabilities. We make sure that people with a learning disability and their family carers are part of everything we do. Valuing People says the Partnership Board should help “people with learning disabilities to do those ordinary things, make use of mainstream services and be fully included in the local community”. LDPD 'We Do' - Dec 2010 is a document that tells what our Partnership Board does |

Valuing People Now - What next? |
|
In 2009 the government wrote another paper. It is called "Valuing People Now". The government gave the Partnership Boards more power and also expects more from us. We have to make a plan for making Valuing People Now happen in our city. you can read our Make It Happen Plan In December 2010 the government wrote a report about Learning Disability Partnership Boards and progress onValuing People Now - 0812 DoH - Valuing People Now In March 2011 the regional Valuing People programmes came to an end. You can read a message from our regional Valuing People team and a statement from the Department of Health:

How are we doing? |
Once each year the Partnership Board writes a report on the work that we did the year before. Our report is sent to city's Joint Commissioning Board, which makes sure we have good health and social care services. The national Valuing People Team sent us a list of questions to answer in our report. Here is our 2010/11 report: BH - LDPB annual report 2010-11
Here is our report for 2009/10: Here is the 2009/10 Regional report done by the Regional Programme Board: Southeast Regional LDPB report

Who helps us do the work? |
The Partnership Board has other groups of people that help with the work the Partnership Board wants to get done. We call these groups 'sub groups' if they do work for the Partnership Board, or 'Link Groups and Forums (Fora)' if they work with, but not for, the Partnership Board. Each group has its own page on this website. |

Learning Disability Development Fund |
This is money the government gives to the council to help make Valuing People happen for everyone. We use that money to pay for special projects. Funding is being used to support the 6 key areas of the work plan of the Learning Disability Partnership Board for 2012/13. In particular: Getting people ready for the next step and getting older – work to support people developing life skills, supporting people to move, increasing awareness of housing options
The projects supported in 2011/12:
A report on these projects is contained in the meetings of the LDPB in April 2012 Take a look at the sub group pages to learn about the projects that our money supported last year. Click here to read a summary of the projects from 2009/10. Click here to read a summary of the projects from 2008/09. |
